Mini Course
to the Bruce Trail Project

EARTHQUEST (Canada) has been operating the Bruce Trail Project since 1999. Long term field data has been collected on all flora and fauna species that exist within the Niagara Escarpment World Biosphere Reserve, located between Tobermory and Owen Sound, Ontario. In 1999 we began collecting flora and fauna surveys on the extensive trail system and hiked 215 km cataloguing more than 378 species of vascular plants, 102 birds, 55 species of butterflies and moths, 14 mammals and 12 species of amphibians and reptiles. Learn how to positively field identify 80 - 120 species of vascular plants from 20 - 30 families and 50 - 60 birds representative of 15 - 20 families over a 2 - 12 week study period. If you are a interested in obtaining professional skill upgrades you may apply directly to the project as an intern. If accepted you may enroll in our new Biological Field School as a Level 1 FAT and qualify for internships on this fantastic and exciting project. Internship opportunities are ONLY available to successful graduates of the FAT Program. The minimum requirement for applying directly to the FAT Program is an interest in field biology, ornithology, ecology, botany or medicinal plants + a degree/diploma.

Please be advised that you should take the EARTHQUEST General FAT Level 1 & 2 terrestrial plant, ELC and GIS courses + the Bruce Trail hiker's guide, first before you can qualify for this mini course, if applying to the General FAT Program. These FAT courses are not included with the cost of this mini course unless you are already a registered full time student of the Biological Field School.
