Expedition/ Nature tour Description: Explore the vast biodiversity of birds and plants that exist within Canada's Carolinian zone. Learn how to field identify birds and plants with an expert naturalist/biologist. Visit areas known to harbour rare and unusual birds and plants such as Tulip tree, Butternut, Red-headed woodpecker, Prothonotary warbler, Bald eagle, Carolina wren, Hooded warbler, Sandhill crane and Winged sumac (spring/summer). In the fall warblers and other birds may be viewed against the splendid backdrop of fall colours.

What is included: Guided & interpretated tour of Carolinian plant and bird �hotspots� by an expert, 3 nights accommodation at Bed & Breakfast; incl. Breakfast, tax-deductible receipt for a portion of the cost to participate in the program, farewell dinner at Tour Leader�s cottage on the north shore of Lake Erie, and Tour/Project Briefing material. Poor weather conditions may conjure up rare and unusual birds, particularly after storms. Please be prepared for birding in rain or sunshine. Tour itineraries are subject to change based on weather, bird activity and unpredictable factors. Transportation will be by personal vehicle and/or car pool. Participants are required to bring their own binoculars, field guides, snacks and refreshments. Stops at restaurants for breaks, lunch, etc. are to be expected. Some "hotspots" may have extensive trail networks, so please be prepared to go off the beaten path and dress according to weather conditions. Birding "hotspots" may include; Concession A, the Port Rowan Sewage Lagoons, Cultus Agreement forest, Wilson's Tract, Houghton Center, the Aylmer sewage lagoons, the Aylmer National Wildlife Area, Lee Brown's Marsh, Port Burwell Provincial Park and the LPBO banding station. |

Duration/Dates: 4 days/3 nights (Fall, 2010; Spring/Summer, 2010; October, 2010 to October, 2011).

Cost: $570.00 CDN per person 4 days/3 nights $425.00 USD per person 4 days/3 nights (USD rates are subject to fluctuations based on exchange).

Booking/Registration Procedure: Please download a registration form and email/mail with your non-refundable $125.00 CDN ($100.00 USD) deposit. All deposits and registration forms must be received within 14 days prior to the Expedition/tour start date. The forms of payment are; i) international money order or certified cheque payable to EARTHQUEST, ii) direct deposit to the EARTHQUEST account through a bank and iii) wiring funds through Western Union. Other Information: We will customize to suit your needs; also offer field identification workshops in ferns, grasses/sedges and rushes, passerine birds, spring warblers, trees and shrubs, medicinal plants, butterflies and moths, damselflies and dragonflies, amphibians and reptiles. These may be taken in combination with our tours, courses or programs. Other activities incl. Pottery/teahouse, candle shops, local crafts and art, and wine tours. References are available upon request once you have been accepted into an Expedition/tour.
